Please make plans to attend the 38th Annual STAM Convention & Trade Show at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel.    Attendance at the STAM Convention & Trade Show meets the new requirement of 540 CMR 8.00 for advanced school bus driver instructor training.  Special pricing available for School Bus Driver Instructors/Trainers.  This is your chance to get the latest information on safe school bus transportation, topics affecting your business, and it’s an excellent opportunity to celebrate our successes!  Once again, we have some very special activities and events planned.

We are very happy to have Pauline Gervais of Education Compliance Group, Inc. scheduled to speak at the 38th Annual STAM Convention.  Pauline joins Education Compliance as a consultant after retiring as Executive Director of Transportation for Denver Public Schools, serving 80,000 students.  Pauline has over 34 years of experience and has presented at local, state and national conferences covering all aspects of school transportation.  Here’s an overview of the topics Pauline will discuss:

Monday, August 1:  Customer Service and Dealing with Difficult People:  Learn ways to communicate and keep your composure under pressure and stress.  Customer service techniques and skills will be discussed to help all of us deal with difficult people.  How to Re-invent School Bus Driver Training:  Bring life back to your training.  Learn ways to make your training more interesting and memorable.

Tuesday, August 2:  Homeless Children: A Population Mosaic and Transportation Maze:  The McKinney-Vento Act is becoming more and more of a challenge to school transporters as the nation experiences an increase in families with children who are homeless.  We’ll discuss strategies and creative solutions for serving this growing population during these very difficult economic times.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles and Department of Public Utilities will bring the latest information and important updates on school bus and 7D transportation in Massachusetts.  A few topics are:  The new requirements of 540 CMR 8.00 School Bus Driver Training Programs and School Bus Driving Instructors, 7D Proposed Regulations, and First Aid Training for New School Bus Drivers.

Also, on Tuesday, August 2nd the STAM Trade Show will have a variety of school bus information and the latest in school bus technology for you to see first-hand.

We hope you will join us for the various conference events scheduled in the evenings too.
